What is DMARC? DMARC helps domain owners prevent email spoofing and phishing by specifying authentication policies. It works with SPF and DKIM to tell receiving servers what to do if emails fail authentication.
What is SPF? SPF (Sender Policy Framework) specifies which mail servers are authorized to send email on behalf of your domain.
What is DKIM Alignment? Determines how strictly the DKIM signature domain matches the From header.
Relaxed: Only the root domain must match (e.g., From: user@inboxstork.com, DKIM: mail.inboxstork.com → aligned).
Strict: Exact match required (e.g., From: user@inboxstork.com, DKIM: mail.inboxstork.com → NOT aligned).
What is SPF Alignment? Determines how strictly the SPF check matches the sending domain with the From header. Relaxed allows root domain matches; Strict requires exact matches.
Example:
If your domain is inboxstork.com:
- Email signed by mail.inboxstork.com → aligned under Relaxed, fails under Strict.
- Email signed by othersite.com → misaligned.
